This weekend got me thinking about a different kind of eggs…

This weekend got me thinking about a different kind of eggs. The kind women care about most—the ones that dwell within us.

We’ve been told our fertility is essentially fixed—with strong links to genetics and age. That egg quality is something you either have, or you don’t.

But that’s not the whole story.

While you can’t change your age… you can change the environment your eggs develop in.

Most of us were taught one thing: that girls are born with all the eggs we’ll ever have.

Which immediately puts us in a fear-based, scarcity mindset.

What we weren’t taught is this:
Our eggs don’t just “exist” waiting to be used.
They mature when it’s their time.
They develop over a ~90-day cycle.

And our lifestyle has a notable influence on the quality of our eggs.

Which means:
➡️ The way we eat
➡️ The way we sleep
➡️ The stress we carry
➡️ The chemicals we're exposed to

…all influence the next wave of eggs coming down the pipeline.

Not instantly. But meaningfully.

So what are the biggest offenders?
🚬 Smoking (the most damaging by far), and yes, vaping is harmful too
🍷 Frequent alcohol use
🧴 Endocrine disruptors (think plastics, fragrances, “forever chemicals”)
😴 Poor sleep
🍭 Blood sugar spikes + metabolic imbalance
😩 Chronic stress

These don’t just affect how you feel.

They affect hormone signaling, inflammation, and even the energy systems inside our developing eggs.

But here’s the good news:
Our bodies bounce back faster than we think.

Not overnight. But within a few months, we can begin to shift the conditions.

This is just a glimpse of what I learned from meeting Dr. Susan Fox. Dr. Fox combines functional and Chinese medicine to help women maximize their fertility—whether trying to conceive naturally or undergoing IVF.

Join me on Wednesday, April 8 at 1pm ET for our LinkedIn Live conversation where we’ll go deeper into what actually moves the needle for better fertility.

🌱 Because you can’t change the seed, but you can absolutely change the soil.
