How sweet it is…

There are moments in life when you realize how far you’ve come. This was one of those weeks.

I was invited to a Mother’s Day Tea at my 11-year-old’s school.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I invited my 83-year-old mother to join me.

My son greeted me with a smile and escorted me to my seat.

The program began with a skit about motherhood framed as a job interview.

The young male “applicant” learned the job required long hours, nights and weekends, no holidays off, little sleep…and no pay.

At one point, the boy looked stunned and asked:
“Who would want a job like that?”

And suddenly, I started to cry.

Because I remembered all the years I spent longing to become a mother.

My struggle lasted ten long years. At times, I feared that painful season would never end.

But there I was, sitting in a room filled with parents, watching my son smile across the room at me.

And I knew it was all worth it.

If you’re walking through infertility this Mother’s Day, I know how painful these holidays can feel.

I remember how lonely that journey can be.

Just know this:
When the road to motherhood is especially hard, finally arriving makes the joy even sweeter.

It’s too difficult to walk alone.

I would be honored to walk beside you.

They ended the program by singing “𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘚𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘐𝘵 𝘐𝘴” by James Taylor. (actual audio included)

How sweet it is indeed.
