Celebrating diverse paths to parenthood with PRIDE

When people think about fertility, they often picture women. I used to as well.

What I didn't expect was how many remarkable men I would meet along the way.

I've discovered that the fertility world is full of wonderful men: fathers, physicians, embryologists, advocates, and entrepreneurs who are deeply committed to helping others experience the joy of parenthood.

Their passion has broadened my perspective in ways I never anticipated.

This Father's Day, two extraordinary men come to mind.

Michael Snaric andGeorge Mooreare the founders of Families Out Loud, a nonprofit dedicated to making the path to parenthood through assisted reproduction safer, better understood, and less isolating.

Their path to fatherhood was difficult, confusing, and stressful. In the end, they realized their dream with the arrival of their two sons. 

The two men became determined to make the journey easier for others.

Michael and George initially created the organization to support the LGBTQ+ community. Over time, they realized that the questions, fears, and emotional challenges surrounding assisted reproduction aren't limited to a single group.

Today, Families Out Loud welcomes anyone navigating the complex journey of building a family outside the norm.

As I've gotten to know Michael and George, I've been struck not only by their devotion as fathers but also by their generosity in helping others. Despite our different journeys, we've discovered that we share many of the same convictions—particularly the belief that there are many beautiful paths to parenthood and that no one should have to navigate them alone.

The more people I meet in this work, the more convinced I become that the desire to build a family is one of the most universal human experiences.

Our stories may be different, but the hope that drives them is remarkably similar.
